Obituary of Lydia Heath
Lydia Cantu Heath, 71, Othello passed away Sunday April 4, 2010 at her home with her loving family at her side.
Lydia was born June 22, 1938, in Panchita, TX to Valentin and Beatrice (Cavazas) Cantu.
She attended school in Edenburg, TX and Grandview, WA. Her college education began at Big Bend Community College and she graduated from Central Washington University.
Lydia married Jack Heath in 1963 at Grandview, WA. She was a stay at home mom until their boys were in school. She started working for the Othello School District at Hiawatha School in 1975, where she found her love of teaching and making a difference in children's lives. She adored her students. She retired in 2000 after 25 years of teaching. She lived in Othello for 47 years.
Lydia was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Othello Cancer Support Group. She was a Blue Bird leader assistant in 1967. Served on the board of directors at Columbia Basin Health Association, Othello 1976 - 1978.
Lydia loved her family and friends. She had a passion for reading. Loved to dance and listen to music. One of her most unforgettable moments was seeing Fats Domino in concert and having the opportunity to reach out and touch him. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family.
She is preceded in death by Jack, her loving husband, and parents.
Lydia is survived by her sons John E. (Becky) Heath, Othello, WA and David S. Heath, Kirkland, WA. brothers and sisters, Efrain (Olivia) Cantu, Chicago, IL, Viola (Cruz) Rangel, Moses Lake, WA., Elida (Tony) Gonzalez, Grandview, WA., Hector ( Mercedes) Cantu, Seattle, WA., Imelda (Victor) Castilleja, Amity, OR., Sally Riccobono, Seattle, WA., Gloria (Russell) Bash, Seattle, WA., Val Cantu, Moses Lake, WA., Norma (Ray0 Ramos, Seattle, WA., Fred (Sherrie) Cantu, Seattle, WA., grandchildren, Nathan S. Heath, Melissa N. Heath, Dustin S. Rodgers and Mathew S. Rodgers and numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary service will be held Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. The Memorial Mass will be held Friday, April 9, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Both services will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church., Othello, WA.
