Obituary of Brian Kultgen
Brian William Carl Kultgen, 47, was born on August 27, 1963 in Kennewick, WA. Brian was the youngest son of Donald and Katherine Kultgen of Othello where he was a long time resident. In his late teens and early 20s he lived in Shelby, MT where he met and married Linda Hunt in 1982. The following year came the arrival of their daughter, Kassie, followed by their son, Matthew in 1985. Brian and Linda later separated. In 1998 he met the love of his life, Melissa and in 2009, his only granddaughter Ayva was born. Brian's wife, kids and granddaughter were amongst the greatest enjoyments in his life. Sadly on Friday August 12, 2011 Brian passed away at Othello Community Hospital.
During Brian's lifetime he embarked in multiple careers in which he mastered. Brian was a lifelong truck driver, starting in his late teens, which continued throughout the rest of his life. When Brian lived in Montana he worked for Haliburton and in the Oil Fields alongside his brothers. When he moved back to Othello he drove for Simplot and McCains. He was also a lifetime body man, mechanic, and carpenter. For the past 4 years Brian has been the Lead Mechanic at New Holland SS Equipment of Othello. He was a true jack-of-all-trades. For the last 15 years he has been with his beloved wife and soul mate, Melissa Hernandez of Othello, WA. Together they built a beautiful home, which they enjoyed remodeling and working on together. He always said, "I wouldn't have made it this far without her, she is my savior and soul mate."
Brian had many hobbies; he was an avid car restorer and really enjoyed the art of wheelin' and dealin' throughout his life. He also enjoyed fishing, visiting, and spending time with his family and friends. One of his greatest enjoyments in life was spending time with his numerous pets and helping anyone he thought was in need. He will be greatly missed by all.
Brian is survived by his wife Melissa, his 6 remaining siblings Bonnie, Jim, Jerry, Clifford, David and Bob. His son Matthew Brian, daughter Kassie Sue, granddaughter Ayva Madison, 27 nieces and nephews, and multiple great nieces and nephews.
Brian was preceded in death by 4 older brothers and his parents.
There will be a viewing held at Pine Street Baptist Church from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2011. On Friday there will be a viewing at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. and interment at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are in the care of Danekas Funeral Home Othello.
