Obituary of Orman Wallace Johnson

Orman Wallace Johnson, 76 years old of Connell, WA passed away November 4th, 2023 in Richland, WA of natural causes. He was born on May 10, 1947 to Arthur and Dorothy Johnson in Spokane, WA. Orman grew up on the family farm outside of Connell, WA and graduated from Connell High School in 1965. Orman attended Washington State University and graduated in 1969, with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics. Orman was drafted in 1969 and spent nearly two years as a MP in the Army, mostly stationed in Alaska. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Orman returned home to the family farm where he spent his life, passionately growing the farm into a successful ag business. He worked hard to better his community and businesses, serving on numerous boards including CUMC, East Columbia Basin Irrigation District, the Columbia Basin Development League and many other boards. He married Mardi Boswell, on 12/23/1972 and they had 4 children, Matt, Kristin, Tami, and Becca. Orman was a committed athlete, playing his favorite sports (basketball and tennis) into his 70s. His neighbors saw him riding his bike on the country roads around the farm. He was an avid sports fan, cheering on his children and grandchildren at any opportunity. He enjoyed attending Connell Eagle sports, and most passionately WSU Coug sports. Orman is survived by his spouse Mardi; children Matt (Liz), Kristin Gauthier (JP), Tami Baxter (Frank), Becca Taylor (Will); siblings Arti Hughes, BJ Bowen, and Gavin Johnson; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Art and Dorothy Johnson. Visitation/viewing will be November 20th, at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello, WA from 3-5 pm. Memorial services will be November 21st, at 3 pm, at Grace United Community Church (Formerly Connell United Methodist Church). In honor of Orman, please wear the crimson and gray of Washington State University (official Cougar apparel of any kind highly encouraged!) Memorials or donations may be made to Grace United Community Church or Washington State University Athletic Fund.
