Obituary of Mildred Mann
Mann, Mildred Ellen (76) passed away October 25, 2010 in Ritzville, Washington. Mildred was born to Clarence "Dick" Layton and Silver Opal Gamey at Neah Bay and was the first white baby born on the reservation.
At the age of 4 her family moved to the Bothell/Woodinville area; then moved to Harrington when she was about 14 and she graduated Harrington High School in 1953.
On July 13, 1953 she married Elmer Mann who was the love of her life. They moved to the family farm in Sprague and raised their 3 children there. Mildred loved to cook, bake and can. She also helped on the farm with machine repair and drove wheat truck. They traveled together, taking road trips and boat cruises. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2003.
After retirement, she kept herself busy in Grandmothers Club, Ritzville Senior Center, where she was both vice-president and president. She played pinochle, solved jigsaw and crossword puzzles, attended church and spent time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Mann in 2006. She is survived by her children: Eugene (Gayle) Mann of Sprague, Marlene Mann of Ritzville, Dean (Connie) Mann of Sprague, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday October 29, 2010 at Danekas Funeral Home-Ritzville from 12 PM to 5 PM. Graveside Services will be Saturday October 30, 2010 at 10:45 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery in Harrington followed by Memorial Services at 11:30 AM at Harrington United Methodist Church.
