Obituary of Milo Calvert
Calvert, Milo Alden (88) entered into rest July 13, 2010 in Moses Lake. Milo was born to Asa and Gladys Calvert on June 11, 1922 at Juliaetta, Idaho. He completed High School in Orofino, ID and then went into the U.S. Forest Service in Idaho. He met his wife of 54 years, Barbara Mae Dyer, and married her 6 weeks later on June 3, 1956 in Coeur d' Alene, ID. She was 19 and he was 33. He went to work for the railroad and attended Telegraph School in Spokane; becoming a Morse Code Specialist. Milo retired in 1985 as a Depot Operator for Burlington Northern Railroad; working in Montana, Idaho and Washington. His hobbies were fishing streams and creeks for trout using live bait of worms and grasshoppers, ice fishing and rock hunting. He was known for his generosity and helping others. He gathered fresh fruit from the orchards and gave it to friends, neighbors, and the less fortunate. His wife describes him in three words; "Very generous man." Milo had one sister, Clema, who preceded him in death at the age of 69. He was also preceded in death by one son; Daniel at the age of 9. Surviving family members are his wife Barbara Calvert of Ritzville, 2 daughters: Karolyn Alford (Ken) of Monroe, WA and Jewel Wise (Travis) of Washtucna, WA; 2 sons: Robert Calvert of The Dalles, OR and Steven Calvert of Vantage, WA; 6 grandchildren: Melissa, Caitlin, Asa, Eric, Jacob and Kallie. Memorial Services will be Thursday July 29, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Washtucna Community Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Washtucna Community Church.
