Obituary of Ed J Faure
Edward J. Faure, 95, long-time resident of Washtucna and Ritzville died February 5, 2021. Edward was born April 22, 1925, the son of French immigrant Edouard Faure and Anna (Davin) Faure of Walla Walla. His earliest years were spent on his family’s ranch in Marengo, attending a one room school house reached by horse and buggy. His family later moved to Ritzville where he competed in track and field events, football, 4-H and FFA competitions earning many awards in sheep showmanship, and judging. At the young age of 16, he was in charge of getting railroad cars full of his father's sheep to market back east.
He married Betty Jane Selcho in 1946 and spent the next 74 years head over heels in love. They lived on their Washtucna farm until moving their family to Ritzville in 1962. Ed and his family, Betty, John and Monica enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, boating, fishing and gardening. Ed is survived by Betty, son John (Linda) Faure and daughter Monica (Scott) Hudson. Also surviving Ed are grandchildren: Jason Faure, Krista (Dave) Lehman and daughter Abigail, Casey (Mariah) Hudson and Emily (Kyle) Porter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Because of Ed's compassion for animals, the family has asked those who wish to donate to consider Adams County Pet Rescue in Othello.
Ed had one goal in life that stood far above all else. It wasn't to be rich, own the most acres, hold office, or to be popular in the world's estimation. His goal was to serve his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, becoming more and more like Jesus every day. Way to go, dad, you finished the race, setting an amazing example for us all. Yes, we miss you terribly, but more importantly we rejoice, for to be absent from the body is to be present with your Lord.
A public viewing will be held at Danekas Funeral Home on Friday, March 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, March 13 at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery beginning at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Steve Schoestel will be officiating and the public is invited.
