Doreen Flavel Sutherland Obituary

Doreen Flavel Sutherland passed away Aug. 10, 2020 in Pullman, WA. She was born March 17, 1931 in Washtucna, WA to Floyd and Flavel (Sell) Cameron. Doreen had loving Christian parents and was raised in a happy home. She grew up in Washtucna and graduated from high school in 1949. In 1951 Doreen married Dean Sutherland. The couple lived at various times in Palouse and in Portland. In 1961 the family moved to the Lamont area where Dean began farming. The family attended the Lamont Community Church. Doreen valued the fellowship of this church body for the rest of her life. In 1973 they moved to the Washtucna farm. Dean and Doreen were members of the Washtucna Community Church. Doreen loved being a homemaker. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed decorating her house. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Doreen was an avid reader and volunteered in the church library. She was a member of the Progressive Club and enjoyed the fellowship of the members. She was a truly gracious woman. She loved beauty and tried to make life beautiful for her loved ones.

Doreen was preceded in death by husband and by her brothers; Don and Dwight. Survivors include her children; David Sutherland, Paula (Dick) Coon, Pamela Sutherland, Judy (Jeff) Sitton, Susan Sutherland; 6 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She will have a private graveside in May.
