Obituary of Helen Snyder
Snyder, Helen Marie Blasingame (87) entered into rest April 15, 2010, in Spokane, WA. She was born to Clifford and Artha Andoe Blasingame April 22, 1922 in Lampe, Missouri. She graduated high school in Blue Eye, Missouri in 1939 and graduated Southwest Missouri State, Springfield, Missouri, earned a Master's Degree from Eastern Washington State College. She started teaching in MO in a one room school house at the age of 17. She came to Washington in 1947 and taught business in Washtucna. Helen met her husband Lester Snyder and married August 18, 1948 in Ritzville and they lived their entire married lives on the farm between Ralston and Washtucna. She volunteered many hours and served on Adams County School Board, Ralston Grange Secretary, Pomona Grange Secretary, Education Committee Chairman, and Washington State Grange Ag in the classroom, Washington Association of Wheat Growers, Walk to Emmaus and as Sunday School Teacher at Washtucna Community Church. She spent many hours writing grants and lobbying in Olympia for Education and Agriculture. Helen spent the last six years living at Sunshine Gardens Health Facility in Spokane. She loved to travel, never knew a stranger and loved her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Chloe and son in law Alan Camp. She leaves behind her husband Lester, son Jerry (Gretchen) Snyder and daughter Janet Camp; grandchildren: David Hollenback, Amy (Billy) Andersen, Sarah Snyder, Jason Snyder and Annie White. Visitation will be Thursday April 22, 2010 from 12 Noon to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Washtucna Friday April 23, 2010 at 10:00 AM followed by a Memorial Service at Trinity UMC in Ritzville at 1:00 PM.
