Obituary of Michael Grant Weber
Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael Grant Weber, age 89, longtime resident of Ritzville, passed away, May 26, 2025. He was born on February 27, 1936, at the Weber family farm to parents, John and Lucy (Schorzman) Weber. He attended Ritzville schools and graduated from Ritzville High School in 1954. Mike moved to Bellingham and enrolled at Western Wash College. Following time at college he met and married Claudia Luepp and became employed with Boeing in Seattle where he worked for 9 years. In that time, 3 sons were born, Mike, Doug and Greg. He returned to the Ritzville area in 1964 and worked for several companies associated with wheat farming and rural agriculture implement. In the later years of his career, he returned to his lifelong passion for farming, something rooted deep in his upbringing—and found a home at Schoesler Farms, where he worked with dedication and pride for 28 years before retiring in 2001.
In 1969, Mike’s life grew even richer when he married Nancy Ellen MacGinnitie. Together, they built a loving family and welcomed two more sons, Walt in 1970 and Grant in 1974.
Mike’s commitment extended beyond his work on the land; his steadfast membership at Zion Philadelphia and his service as Past President of both the Ritzville Lions Club and the Ritzville Alumni Association are lasting testaments to his generosity and community spirit.
Mike spent his days doing what he loved—working the land and following the rhythms of the farming seasons. Evenings and weekends were devoted to serving others: volunteering with the Boy Scouts, 4-H Club, gardening projects, and just about anything that needed a helping hand. He rarely missed a sporting event his sons participated in and cherished time spent away at Camp N-Sid-Sen on Lake Coeur d’Alene.
After retirement, Mike celebrated life with 24 years of adventurous road trips, exploring the beautiful landscapes of Washington, journeying across the United States, and even traveling through Europe. Though he was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 48 years Nancy Ellen, and son Douglas, his legacy lives on in his four beloved sons—Michael (Laura) of Naches, WA; Greg (Sherry) of Grayslake, IL; Walt (Kim) of Ritzville; and Grant (Ginny) of Spokane—as well as his 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and countless lifelong friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 11AM, Saturday, June 21 at Zion-Philadelphia Congregational Church, 301 E. Broadway, Ritzville, WA. A reception will follow at the American Legion Hall. No flowers please, memorial contributions may be made to Zion-Philadelphia or to the Lind-Ritzville Alumni Association, PO Box 312, Ritzville, WA 99169
