Frederick Alan Zumdahl, age 84, passed away peacefully with his wife beside his bed

on April 13, 2026. He was born on November 16, 1941 to Elmer Henry Zumdahl and

Cleo May Stimax (Zumdahl) in Freeport, Illinois. He was the youngest of three children.

He is survived by his wife JoRene Zumdahl, daughters Christine Zumdahl Sauvage

(Bill), Catherine Braswell (Steve) and three granddaughters Micaela Robinson (Kyle),

Kylie Frick and Halli Braswell, and a sister, Shirley Cook (Dick).

He attended Santa Barbara City College after serving 5 years, 4 months and 28 days in

the Navy. He met JoRene they were married in 1968 and moved to the Snoqualmie

Valley to begin their family. They lived on a small farm and Fred worked not only at the

local hard ware store but Weyerhaeuser for approximately 20 years. His dream of

owning his own store led him to Ritzville, Washington where he and his wife owned and

operated the local Coast to Coast store for 22 years. He loved his community, working

within it and helping his customers. They were all very special to him and he loved to

hear their stories. He was also a member of the Lion’s Club and Chamber of

Commerce in Ritzville. He and his wife enjoyed spending time with family and friends

and loved to travel and explore. He was a kind and generous man and his presence

will be missed greatly.
