It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather Charles Buch. He was a dedicated farmer, and he leaves behind a legacy of hard work and a love for family. Charles was born November 26,1932, and he peacefully passed from this life on February 5, 2026. Through his journey of 93 years, he touched many lives with his humor, intelligence and kindness.

Charles graduated with a Bachelor of Science in agricultural education from Washington State College. He joined the Air Force after graduation, serving as a flight instructor before acting as copilot for a B-47 bomber. He was proud of his service in the Strategic Air Command. When he had the option to be released from his obligation, he chose to move home to Washington State where he worked as an extension agent in the Wenatchee area. His father’s retirement led him back to manage the family farm south of Ritzville. He established a work-life balance that allowed him to attend his children’s and grandchildren’s activities, including driving the family motor home to the Midwest twice a year.

In addition to his parents and sister Virginia, Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Roberta Buch. He is survived by his loving children, Valerie Eckley (Sisay Desalegn) and Susan Stewart; grandchildren Corin Eckley, Kara Eckley, Katelyn Brunick (Austin Brunick), and Tom Stewart; and great-grandson Percy Brunick, who were the lights of his life. His dog Princess was adopted by his granddaughter Kara when he moved to assisted living.
