In 1946, the family moved to Othello, Washington where her father worked for the railroad. After moving back to Wisconsin briefly with the family, she and the family returned to Othello. As a teen and in her early twenties, she worked for families in Othello taking care of their children and cleaning houses. In 1954, she met Eldred Sieverkropp in Othello and they were married on May 29, 1955 in Othello, Washington. The happy couple resided on a wheat farm west of Ritzville for 42 years and raised five children. Elena enjoyed being outdoors on the farm, tending to the garden and flowerbeds, raising the five children, taking care of the farm animals and making wonderful homemade bread and meals for her family.
