Obituary of Lura Mae Maier
Lura Mae Maier (92) passed away peacefully on June 27 2015 at hospice of Spokane. Lura was born on March 11, 1923 in Ritzville to Mary and Alan Scott of Benge Wash. She graduated from Washtucna high school and then Kenman business school in Spokane. She married Alvin Allert in 1945 and they farmed in Benge wash. Lura was very active in the community, Benge school board and Benge Community Church. She began working at the Adams County Assessor’s office in Ritzville while they farmed in Benge. Lura and Alvin Allert moved to Ritzville in 1970. After Alvin Allert passed away she remarried Alvin Maier of Ritzville and then retired from the assessor’s office. She and Alvin Maier enjoyed a life of traveling in their RV and golfing. Lura was preceded in death by her parents, twin sister Lois Murphy daughter Kristy Allert and both husbands Alvin Allert and Alvin Maier. Lura is survived by Son Terry Allert (Earlene), Sister Barbara Rickenbach of Kennewick, Step sons Bill Maier (Carol) and John Maier (Jan); nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Visitation at Danekas Funeral Home-Ritzville on Friday July 10 2015 from 10:00am to 12:30pm graveside services at 1:00 at the Ritzville Memorial Cemetery reception to follow at Trinity United Methodist Church.
